Does a splatter screen really stop all the grease flying everywhere?
Hi folks, I cook almost every day and my stove + backsplash always end up covered in tiny oil dots after frying bacon, sausages or cutlets. I’m considering getting a splatter screen for frying pan but I’ve read some cheap ones are useless. Do they actually work well or is it just marketing? What diameter and type (stainless vs silicone rim) would you recommend for a normal home gas stove? Thanks in advance!

They definitely cut down the mess by 80–90% in my experience. I used to wipe the whole area after every frying session, now I just rinse the screen and maybe give the stove a quick wipe. The fine mesh is key – it lets moisture escape so the food stays crispy but blocks most flying droplets. I’ve had a basic stainless 12-inch one for over two years now and it still looks good. This model has held up really well for me – splatter screen for frying pan . The handle is comfortable and it sits nicely on different pan sizes. Worth the small investment if you fry often.
